Catherine Lawes

Catherine has had an active interest in music since learning to play piano accordion from the age of 7. She was a member of her church choir in her youth and has been involved with various school and college choirs as the years passed by.

She always had the ‘urge’ to get up on stage but only achieved some small backstage involvement in school and college productions and never managed to pluck up the courage to join a society until, in 2001, she responded to DMTC’s calls for more people to join their production of ‘Me and My Girl’, following her younger son Guy who had already been involved with several productions.

She has been part of the chorus in all the shows produced since then. In June 2008, in the society’s production of ‘Noel and Ivor’, she had great fun portraying ‘Mother’ in the Noel Coward song ‘And her mother came too’ then was delighted to be able to take the role of ‘Shandel’ in our production of ‘Fiddler’, earlier this year.
