Reviews:
I had a great night at the 50th Anniversary Dinner, the obvious highlights being my hideously embarrassing stint as the Durham Musical Theatre Company's version of The Lovely Debbie McGee and not even the magician getting mine and Katie's names the right way around!

We have followed DAOS/ DMTC since we moved to Durham 28 years ago. Little did we or Darren know that those Xmas pantos, which made us laugh so much and gave so much pleasure, would lead to an interest for our son which became so much a part of his life and therefore ours. His first production was "The King and I" - forever "dirty hands Darren"!

How well I remember the taxiing to and from rehearsals/ shows, the makeup removal, dispensation to turn up late for school, his constant singing around the house leading up to the shows! His learning to dance! His blues when productions were finished. All the cards, presents and momentoes which he still has.

Attending the 50th anniversary was for us an enjoyable and memorable culmination to those years. We were made very welcome. It was pleasurable to see so many people again on this truly celebratory occassion. The venue, the hospitality, the food and the organisation were without fault. There was even an amusing floor show although I think some retribution is planned - so watch out Bob Gair. We particularly enjoyed the speeches by Mike and Harry and being able to share in the history and personal memories .

THANK YOU for allowing us to join you on such a memorable night.
THANK YOU for the many years of pleasure you have given our family and the general public.
THANK YOU for your hardwork and committment in taking "Durham Musical Theatre Company" forward into the 21st century.

A thoroughly enjoyable evening of food, wine and music. It was touching to hear the memories of so many people brought to light in the speeches and also an entertaining highlight to see Harry perform for us all.

I particularly enjoyed the chance to meet up with friends and members who I otherwise would not get the chance to see and the opportunity to catch up with lifelong friends and recall our antics from the past.

Thank-you for such a special night!

The dinner was a splendid evening and had a true celebratory feel to it. The fact that past members such as Darren fly up from London, and the Claphams came across from France to join us, only added to the pleasurable feeling surrounding the night.

It says a lot about DMTC that so many people were wanting to celebrate the 50th anniversary since its re-formation, in style. The question on eveyone's lips was, "Where are we going to have the dinner to celebrate our centenary in 2008?"

The venue proved to be excellent - the gardens being especially welcome on a balmy night. The organisation went like clockwork, but never for one second did it feel regimented. It was all so subtly done and all credit must go to Heather, Rob and Sue for organising such a splendid evening for us.

We are indeed fortunate in taking part in this crazy hobby - for in doing so it has been my good fortune to make friends with so many wonderful people and as was proposed on the night, the toast is "DURHAM MUSICAL THEATRE COMPANY"- long may we continue to produce high class musical theatre in Durham City.
